Cosplayer Spotlight: Kelly Kelley

“I recently got into cosplay starting in July of 2014. My previous jobs and practices didn’t really allow me the time to even think about getting into cosplaying. But now that I sort of have freed myself from the competitive lifestyle, I have plenty of spare time!

I love embracing the character that I find so much joy in watching or knowing through cosplaying. Someone like Leia from Star Wars has always been a personal favorite of mine. So, of course, I set out to embrace her and transform myself into something that I would never have tried before.

I first find my passion in a character, someone I know inside and out. Then I plan whether or not I’m going to fully replicate, or create my own design around the character like Hestia from “Is It wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in A Dungeon?” Afterwards, I go on a shopping spree for materials, come home, start my LIVE STREAM, then create the outfit alongside my fans watching & interacting with me!

I love anime, actually. I watch a little too much and most of my cosplays are based around anime movies, and shows. I have one video game character and that was Hipster Princess Peach.

My outfits have been somewhat different each time and the time to create each piece varies. I’ve gone for the exact replica look like for Slave Leia, and then twisted other characters to my own will like the Hipster Pink Ranger. One day, I was wondering what it would be like to be “too cool” to fight crime and instead, let the other Power Rangers deal with it. The dress and look came to me! And I’d have to say that my favorite outfits are my Sailor Mars Bikini and Hestia.

My creative space is super MESSY! It’s scattered right now due to my Hestia and Loki cosplays that are coming up, but for the most part, similar materials are all in the same area! As far as my favorite materials, so far, I haven’t touched stuff like worbla. Sewing and hot gluing are fun, though!

Creative blocks…I don’t really get those that often. So if I do, I hop in the shower for a bit and a lot of great thoughts come to me.

Some of my role models are Lindsay Elyse, Jessica Nigri, Amie Lynn, Angelica Danger Dawn. And many more, but those ladies…really hit home for me. They’re all wonderful souls that I’m blessed to have met!

If there is one thing I couldn’t live without, it would be my cell phone! 😛

You can check out my current store lineup here. I’ll have prints of “Pinkie Pie” from My little Pony, and “Hipster Princess Peach” from SMB very soon, alongside Hestia and Loki from, “Is It wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in A Dungeon?” So excited for those!”
